The benefits of native plants in gardens and landscapes

Whether you've been gardening with native plants for years or are simply interested in making the most of your landscape investment, we want to make it easy for you to enjoy the benefits native plants offer.

The diversity of plants available means no matter what your location or particular site requires; or what your personal needs and wants are, there’s a native plant to meet the task.

The economic benefits of choosing natives are many as native plants require less maintenance and watering, are resistant to most pests and disease issues, are already adapted to a multitude of soil types and light conditions and survive the extremes of our temperatures and weather. All these factors add up to less time, resources and money spent to achieve a beautiful, healthy, thriving landscape.

Of all the common sense reasons for utilizing natives the ecological benefits are of particular importance.

The use of native plants in our own backyards and landscapes improves all aspects of our environment from providing food sources to birds, insects and other wildlife, to natural erosion control and absorption of pollutants from the air, soils and waterways.

Mid Atlantic Natives/Superior Nursery’s focus on North East and Mid Atlantic native American plants stems from over 25 years of landscaping and plant propagation experience. We can assure you that deciding to utilize native plants in your landscape makes sense for many reasons. What we offer are nursery propagated, container grown native perennials, trees, shrubs, grasses and herbaceous emergents (native wetland plants). WE never dig from the wild.

Native trees and shrubs are offered potted or bare root. Native perennials, grasses and herbaceous emergents are available bare root or in containers. Native ferns are available both potted and bare root. The nursery is open to the public and we welcome your visit. All native plant material, including larger material and items not listed on this site, is available in potted form at the nursery. Bare root material is dug to order.
