Phlox glaberrima, commonly known as smooth phlox or sometimes marsh phlox, is a beautiful and adaptable herbaceous perennial flowering plant native to the Midwestern and Southeastern United States. It is well-loved for its clusters of fragrant, showy flowers and its resistance to common phlox ailments like powdery mildew and root rot.

The vibrant flowers are a magnet for various pollinators, including butterflies, moths, bees, and hummingbirds, making it a valuable addition to pollinator gardens. It also serves as a host plant for the larvae of the Spotted Straw Moth and Olive Arches Moth

It thrives in moist to wet areas, such as stream banks, open bottomland forests, swamps, marshes, sedge meadows, and tallgrass prairies. It can be found in both prairies and forests, indicating a high-quality habitat.
Soil: Smooth phlox prefers fertile, moist, well-drained soils, including loamy, sandy, or even clay soils.
Sunlight: It grows best in full sun to light shade.
Watering: Consistent moisture is key for this plant, and it will require irrigation during dry spells. However, it tolerates more soil moisture than most other phlox species
