Solidago erecta, also known as showy goldenrod, is a herbaceous perennial known for its showy, bright yellow flower clusters that bloom in late summer and fall. It’s a valuable plant for pollinators, particularly honey bees and other native bees. Showy goldenrod is relatively low-maintenance and adaptable, thriving in various conditions, including dry woods, open areas, and even roadsides.

Ideal planting sites are well-drained. Showy Goldenrod will tolerate a range of soils, as long as the drainage is good. Full sun is best. A keystone species in ecoregions across North America, Goldenrods are among the top-ranked plants for supporting biodiversity.
